After talking with my preceptor, she came up with some good points regarding my research on bedside shift report. My preceptor mentioned to me that timing was important and that now is the time for promoting bedside shift report. In the implementation of modern bedside shift report, nurses are required to be well trained, have time to implement the research and the access to this research (Melnyk et al., 2018). Moving beyond here, a focus on outcomes rather than the process is required so as to ensure that nurses are able to bring together their experience, needs of the patient and family as well as existing research to provide ultimate care to the patient and improve healing. My preceptor told me of the importance of knowing my community and what its needs are should be the first step in making a change.

When considering the local healthcare system as it relates to EBP implementation, one must also realize that the reasons are numerous and not just singly faceted. When working at the local level in the local area, local resources from the area will be needed. The area will and should provide those with the proper experience and desire for working for ones healthcare system as well as suitable funding for the system to be put into place. A specialized workforce of leadership will also be needed to be able to lead through the natural difficulties that may arise during the institution of a healthcare system. A skilled number of staff will also be required for the leaders to lead essentially as they will be the face and the direct contact with the population that is to be served.

Observational studies have shown that when a companys leadership has an inclination to implement EBP, this can in turn make available the previously mentioned adequate funding and skilled workers referred to earlier as human capital. Also, a cultural consideration in the healthcare system can also prove to be helpful when determining how and when to implement EBP. These cultural factors can include organizational norms (company policies, traditions in the workplace, company presence in the community, etc.) It is this dynamic that can influences the cooperation of the stakeholders in the process of the implementation. (Green & Tones, 2009).

Consideration for my capstone change project was given and applying said considerations to my project include extended time spent with close friends and families during certain times of years as well as during certain milestone family celebrations. These residents will not be able to be actually present during these times until such a time that herd immunity can be all but guaranteed outside the facility, but the use of technology can help the resident avoid missing out completely in the celebration of whatever the occasion may be. Another consideration that is factored into my project is the faith based community linking into certain healthcare facilities and accessing these resources for not only charitable donations, but also in networking and including the facility into the community to make a presence and help with not only raising funds, but also gathering possible workers for the facility themself.
